Young Artists Celebrating Arts Week

Cathedral Bluffs Orchestra presents Young Artists Celebrating Arts Week Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. Features Ridout Fall Fair, CBSO/RCM Concerto competition finalists: Jennifer Liu, piano; Jenavieve Moore, voice; Ema Nikolovska, violin; Annie Zhou, piano. Each playing one movement from a concerto. Tickets: $25; $20 seniors and students; children under 12 are free. Anne

Scarborough Theatre Guild presents Anne starting Sept. 4 at 8 p.m. They wanted a young boy from the orphanage to help out around the farm. Instead, Matthew and Marilla got the irrepressible Anne Shirley. Their lives and the community of Avonlea would never be the same again. Performance dates: Sept. 4 to 6; 11 to 13; 18 to 20 at 8 p.m. Matinee: Sept. 14 at 2 p.m. All seating is now reserved. Tickets: $17; seniors and students: $14 on Thursdays and Sundays only; Student rush rickets are $10, these special price tickets are available for all shows and are sold at the box office starting one hour before showtime, if tickets are still available. Breathing Under Water

The Doris McCarthy Gallery presents Glynis Humphrey: Breathing Under Water from Sept. 17 to Oct. 19. Opening reception is Sept. 17. Breathing Under Water is a multi-media installation providing an array of acoustic, tactile and visual stimuli. The artist evokes a sensuous, yet monstrous feminine presence that can be both threateningly and appealingly immersive. Alternatively seductive and grotesque, the exhibition involves its viewers in a dramatically spatialized experience of embodiment.
